Lawton Fort Sill is located at the base of the historic
Wichita Mountains

Lawton's public
education system can take a student form pre-Kindergarten at Lawton Public Schools through
postgraduate work at Cameron University. Add to this the Great Plains
Technology Center, part of an Oklahoma system that is considered by many
educators to be the premier workforce training program in the nation.

Culturally, we are particularly proud. Our
ballet company, theater, museums, fine arts programs galleries, and
wildlife refuge have
resulted in Lawton becoming the cultural jewel of the plains. Lawton and
Comanche County are home to several significant multi-cultural events each
year.

The Wichita Wildlife Refuge,
a national wildlife refuge center, is one of the oldest ranges on earth
and serves as a reminder of our southwestern past. Each year millions of
visitors enjoy the refuge’s picturesque views and ecosystem, as well as
numerous activities such as rock climbing, trail hiking, boating, fishing,
camping, and swimming. |
Located at the main entry to the refuge is the town
Medicine Park.
Medicine Park, a former tourism resort, became a playground for all
Oklahomans, rich, famous, and notorious, in the early 20th century. As Medicine Park heads into the 21st century,
it continues to experience an economic growth while retaining its history
and charm |
Our success has not gone unnoticed. Expansion
Management Magazine has named Lawton one of
America's "Hottest 50 Cities" for business development and expansion
in 2002. This recognition was fueled by the recent private investment of
over $600 million dollars in new construction and expansion. |
